The ancient pictograph on the Mississippi River bluffs was first documented by Pere Marquette as he explored this rich river valley in 1673. His depiction of the legend remains the most accurate record of the great beast.
Over 100 years later Lewis and Clark were commissioned to explore the continent west of the Mississippi. The huge bluff painting was again documented in their journals as they described the scene. A monstrous beast was painted on the face of the bluff with thousands of broken arrows strewn across the lground beneath the pictograph. Who shot all those arrows and why?
Nearly 200 years later the great flood of 1993 inundated the river valley. Floodwaters reached deep into areas which had remained dry for centuries. The ancient pictograph, much more than legend, was a warning of the horror that would be Unleashed By The Flood!
Recently given a full edit by one of our own, Mr. James Anderson, to rid the book of the errors and typos that authors can't seem to find on their own.

Just finished 'Unleashed By The Flood' by Michael James. I know some will downgrade this book because of its somewhat stilted first person narrative and also for several misspellings and grammatical errors. However, I'm looking beyond these obvious problems to the story itself. Was the author able to tell a great yarn, and keep me wanting to turn pages to find out how the story ends. I must say yes, indeed he did. That's the most important thing to me and I think anyone who can do that deserves at least 3 1/2 to 4 stars. While reading this book I kept thinking of the wonderful black and white sci-fi/horror 'B' movies from the 50's. Such movies as 'Tarantula,' 'Them,' 'The Beginning Of The End,' and many more. I had a small smile on my face while I read on, turning the storyline into one of those movies in my head. It has all the typical characters, the brave doctor and his wife who first identify and confront the problem of the "monster." There is the scientist expert who wants to get samples and study the creature, hoping to gain a great scientific breakthrough. There is the cantankerous sheriff, who at first disregards those attempting to warn the public, but then joins forces with them after learning the truth for himself. And finally the somewhat inept U.S. military is brought in, attempting to use force as a solution to the problem. There are many more wonderful characters in the "cast," too many to describe here.
I'm not going to say much more and ruin the story for anyone else. If you enjoyed movies such as the ones I mentioned above, I'm sure you will like this story. My suggestion to the author, Michael James, is please get yourself a good editor to go through your book, make corrections and give you some advice on how to rewrite it without the first person narrative. I think your book will become 5 star top-notch with a little tweaking.

Unleashed By The Flood edition by Michael James James Anderson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Not a bad concept, but the author left something on the table. Just seemed too simplistic. Believe James is fairly new as an author, in which case, not bad for a start. Shows promise.
Michael James has created a masterpiece of literature. I was not only entertained and captivated by the characters in the book, but also forced to acknowledge the idea of legend becoming reality. Being from Illinois, I was able connect with the setting of the story. It was thrilling to imagine and visualize the continuous trials of the characters throughout the book. I urge you, the readers, to endulge in this literature. This book is one that leaves you with questions, holds you in suspense, and eager to read more. From generation to generation, families surround their lives with stories passed throughout time. This book is one that leaves people questioning...if the legends they grew up listening to became a reality, how would they respond?
As a Missouri native I found the characters hard to relate to and unbelievable. We don't talk like that. The way they interacted was stiff and the dialog bland. The basic storyline was ok, it had some editting issues. It could have been written a lot better, but I have read worse.
Great Book! Keeps you in suspense from beginning to end! Gives us who live in the midwest something to think about.
I couldn't continue reading because I didn't care for his way of writting. I couldn't even tell you much about the story itself as I believe I only read one chapter. Apologies...
This novel tells a terrific tale of a flood that unleashes ancient monsters on the local population in Illinois. I found it thoroughly engrossing and a most interesting and different read. It kept me turning pages to find out how the story ends.
I would differ with some other reviewers who criticized the first person narration. I liked it. It worked and really was the only way to effectively tell this story. Unfortunately the book does have some editing and proofing issues which cause me to drop one star from my assessment.
But it's still a good read and a bargain at only 99 cents on .
